Dear Morning,

Your voice is flat.

2 Chronicles 20:33

Christmas Eve, two years ago, I posted a well-intended toast that would prove to fall flat: “May tomorrow’s cinnamon rolls be fluffy,” I wrote, “the coffee strong, and the morning moments mundanely magical.”

Dear Morning,

Am I dreaming?

Psalm 126:6

It was an October morning a few years back when I was quiet-time-studying in Psalm 126. The words had been my mantra since packing up our Maui dream life and moving home to Oregon. Dear Morning,

You had better get to singin’.

2 Chronicles 20:21-22

So there they were, the people of God, standing still in their 2 Chronicles 20 battle inefficiency, heads bowed in worship to their all-sufficient God when the posture of some men changed. They had a song in their bones that lifted them up and spilled out over to everyone around them. Read more
